Lead qualification

Lead qualification is the process of asking a prospect enough questions to decide whether, how urgently and by whom they should be followed up, a task businesses increasingly give to AI voice agents.

01 In depth

What it is, why it matters and what to ask a vendor

Qualification turns an inquiry into a decision. Typical questions cover what the prospect needs, when, where, their budget or authority and how they found you. A qualified lead is routed to the right person with the answers attached; an unqualified one gets a polite, useful response without consuming a salesperson's afternoon.

For a growing business the bottleneck is usually speed and consistency. Inquiries arrive after hours, salespeople ask different questions, and the CRM ends up with half-filled records. An AI voice agent asks the same questions every time, at any hour, records the answers in the CRM and can book the next step on the spot, so the team starts the day with qualified appointments.

Ask a vendor to show the qualification script and how you change it, how answers are written to your CRM fields, how urgent leads are escalated (a text to the owner, a warm transfer), and what the reports show about conversion by source. Keep the script short; a prospect who feels interrogated hangs up.
