Switching and PoE
Business-grade switches with Power over Ethernet for phones, cameras, access points and meeting-room gear, sized for the drops in your building with room to grow.
Business Technology · Networking
Telxpress designs, installs and manages the switches, Fortinet firewalls and Ubiquiti or Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi your phones, meeting rooms, cameras and AI tools depend on, with a local Irvine team watching it after go-live.
Telxpress designs, installs and manages business networks for offices across Orange County and Southern California: switching, routing, Fortinet firewalls, Ubiquiti and Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi, and segmentation that keeps guests, cameras and phones apart. We also monitor what we install, so problems are seen and fixed before your team notices a slow or dropped connection.
Network segmentation is the practice of splitting one physical network into separate virtual networks (VLANs) so that guest devices, cameras, printers, phones and staff computers cannot see each other, which limits how far a compromised device can reach.
Managed network means a provider, not your office staff, is responsible for watching the network, applying updates, keeping backups of every device's configuration and responding when something fails, under an agreement with defined response times.
What we install and support
Business-grade switches with Power over Ethernet for phones, cameras, access points and meeting-room gear, sized for the drops in your building with room to grow.
Routing between your circuits and your network, with failover between a primary and backup connection so a carrier outage does not stop calls, payments or cloud applications.
FortiGate firewalls with intrusion prevention, web filtering, application control, VPN for remote staff and logging, configured for your business rather than left at defaults.
Access points placed from a site survey, not a guess, with separate staff and guest networks, roaming that holds a call across the office, and cloud dashboards for visibility.
VLANs and firewall rules that keep visitors, cameras, smart devices, printers and phones apart from staff computers and servers, with voice traffic prioritized.
Alerts on outages and failing links, scheduled firmware and security updates, configuration backups and a named local team that responds, all under one agreement.
Compare your options
Buyers usually weigh three paths: consumer gear that nobody watches, business equipment run by in-house staff, or a managed network from an integrator. Here is how they differ in practice.
| Consideration | Consumer or carrier equipment | Business network, self-managed | Managed network by Telxpress |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who watches it | Nobody, until something breaks | Whoever on staff knows the most about networks | Our team, with alerts on outages and failing links |
| When problems are found | When users complain | When someone has time to look | When the alert fires, often before users notice |
| Firewall and firmware updates | Rarely, if ever | When remembered; risky without backups | Scheduled, with configuration backups taken first |
| Guest, camera and phone isolation | Usually one flat network | Possible, if someone designs and maintains it | Designed in from the start and documented |
| Wi-Fi coverage | One router, dead spots in meeting rooms | Depends on who placed the access points | Placed from a site survey, verified after installation |
| Support when something breaks | Carrier hold music | Internal staff pulled off their own work | 24/7 line to local technicians who know the site |
| Best fit | Very small offices with no phones, cameras or compliance duties | Businesses with a dedicated IT team and time to run it | Businesses that depend on calls, cameras, cloud apps and AI tools and want one accountable partner |
| Consideration | Ubiquiti UniFi | Cisco Meraki |
|---|---|---|
| Management | Local or cloud controller, no required per-device license | Cloud dashboard with subscription licensing per device |
| Vendor support | Community and integrator support; Telxpress supports what we install | Vendor support contracts included with licensing, plus Telxpress |
| Best fit | Single sites and budget-conscious businesses that want strong value | Multi-site businesses that want one dashboard and vendor-backed support |
AI and cloud
AI voice agents, cloud phone systems, video meetings and AI-enabled meeting rooms all run across the network and all fail in the same way when it is weak: dropped calls, frozen video, and tools your team stops trusting. Network readiness is the first thing we check in the free AI readiness assessment and a standing part of our AI advisory engagements.
What a ready network looks like:
Most incidents we see start with something simple. These are the basics we put in place on every network we manage, whatever the size of the business.
For regulated industries we align these controls with the rules that apply to you, such as HIPAA for healthcare, the FTC Safeguards Rule for automotive dealerships and GLBA for financial services.
How it works
From the first site walk to the regular review, one local team is accountable for the network.
We walk the site, count devices and drops, test Wi-Fi coverage, review the internet circuits and list what runs on the network today: phones, cameras, meeting rooms, printers, point of sale.
Switches, firewall and access points go in with a documented addressing plan, VLANs for voice, guests, cameras and staff, firewall rules between them, and remote access protected by MFA.
We watch the network for outages, failing links and unusual traffic, apply firmware and security updates on a schedule, and keep configuration backups so a failed device is replaced, not rebuilt.
Regular reviews tie the network to what the business plans next: a new location, more cameras, AI meeting rooms or a cloud migration, so capacity and security stay ahead of demand.
Client results
In today’s business market, communication with your customers is crucial. As a company grows and technology changes it is important to have a vendor you can rely on, a company that stays current with new technology and services. Tele Express has been that company. Their sales staff is well informed, courteous and professional. The several projects that Tele Express has completed for us have been done on time and at the price quoted. There were no surprises and our expectations were met or exceeded. In a business that understands the importance of building relationships, it is refreshing to see that Tele Express takes pride in ensuring its customers’ experience is a good one and it’s a relationship they will work hard to keep.
I find the sales and support staff at Tele Express to be extremely helpful and professional. They have always been available and ready to help. There have even been occasions where they assisted me on the phone, thus solving the problem, with no charge. In short, they're good people. The technicians have never failed to amaze. They work hard, fast, and efficiently. Always willing to go the extra mile and never waste time. I've never seen any tech from Tele Express find a tele problem they could not fix.
A carrier router mainly passes traffic; it is not built to inspect it, block threats or report what happened. A business firewall such as a Fortinet FortiGate adds intrusion prevention, web filtering, VPN for remote staff and logs you can act on. We configure it, keep its security services current and review it with you.
Both are dependable business Wi-Fi platforms we install and support. Cisco Meraki is managed entirely from a cloud dashboard with subscription licensing and vendor support contracts, which suits multi-site businesses. Ubiquiti UniFi offers strong value without a required recurring license and fits single offices and smaller budgets. We recommend based on your sites, staff and growth plans.
Because a problem on one should not reach the others. A visitor's laptop, a camera with old firmware or a printer should never be able to see your file server or your phones. Separate VLANs with firewall rules between them contain incidents, keep voice traffic clear of downloads, and make compliance reviews simpler to pass.
We monitor the switches, firewall and access points we install, apply firmware and security updates on a schedule, keep configuration backups, and respond when an alert fires, often before anyone in the office notices. You get a named local team, a documented network, and regular reviews that tie upgrades to what your business plans next.
Enough dependable bandwidth with a backup path, so meetings and AI voice calls keep working if one circuit fails; PoE switching and quality-of-service for phones and meeting-room gear; segmentation for cameras and smart devices; MFA-protected remote access; and monitoring. We check all of this in the free AI readiness assessment before recommending any AI deployment.
